Project Background
We were successful in competitively tendering for the decorative plaster works required to this domestic dwelling renovation. The main contractor appointed for this project was John Dennis who we have worked alongside on many previous contracts. The works required on site included the supply and installation of a pre cast Cornice and the supply and installation of various existing Cornices within the house which were either damaged during renovation or requiring alteration within newly formed areas. One of the main damaged areas occurred within the master bedroom , this involved a lovely ornate decorative ceiling which became detached from the original lathe ceiling .
Approach Taken
Pre cast Cornice work : Once we received the profile and dimensions from the architect we manufactured the required Cornice in our workshop . This was then transferred to site and fitted by our expert team.
Cornice restoration : We obtained samples of the existing Cornices from site which were then returned to our workshop to begin the reproduction process . These were then fitted on site carefully matching to the existing mouldings.
Ornate decorative ceiling : We were requested to carry out the full restoration of this lovely ornate ceiling . Our team identified the damaged area on site and carefully cut this section out carefully retaining the surrounding existing Cornice and secure section of the decorative ceiling . We then restored the ceiling using a two coat plastering system giving us a suitable surface for replacing the ornate section . This ornament was all reproduced in our workshop from samples obtained during the removal of the damaged section . Our team on site then carefully fixed each individual section of ornament to the new ceiling carefully . This was then handed over the decorating team and the finished result left both the client and contractor delighted.
